Tuyến tiền liệt chỉ có ở phái nam. Tuyến này nằm phía dưới bàng quang, bên trên hoành chậu hông và nó bọc quanh niệu đạo sau. Kích thước tuyến tiền liệt của một bé nhỏ trai lúc mới sinh chỉ bé xíu như hạt đỗ. Tiếp nối nó phát triển trong quãng cuộc đời của phái nam. Tuyến này còn có kích cỡ ổn định: dày khoảng 2,5 cm, bát ngát 4cm, cao 3cm và cân nặng khoảng 20gram.

kết cấu tuyến tiền liệt gồm 70% mô tuyến và 30% lớp đệm mô sợi cơ. Tuyến này đc bao bọc bởi lớp vỏ: elastin, collagen cùng với nhiều sợi cơ trơn khác.

Tiền liệt tuyến đc chia làm cho ba thuỳ: thuỳ cần, thuỳ trái & thùy giữa - thùy mang hình dạng ngón tay, nằm sau niệu đạo. Mặc dù thế, thời buổi này với quan niệm mới lại chia tuyến tiền liệt thành 5 vùng: vùng trung biên, vùng ngoại biên, vùng cơ sợi, vùng quanh niệu đạo & vùng chuyển tiếp.

Tuyến tiền liệt có hai chức năng chính:

• Tiết ra dịch trong tinh dịch: Tiền liệt tuyến sở hữu nhiệm vụ phối hợp cùng các tuyến phụ khác chế tao ra dịch trong tinh dịch. Dịch này sẽ cho trộn đều có tinh dịch, giúp tinh dịch thuận tiện dịch rời trong hệ thống sinh dục của nam và còn hỗ trợ khiến nhờn niệu đạo lúc xuất tinh.

• Co bóp & kiểm soát nước tiểu: Tuyến tiền liệt sẽ ngăn chảy ngược về bàng quang trong quá trình phóng tinh, cơ thắt trong ở đáy bàng quang sẽ đóng lại. Lúc cơ thắt trong đóng lại, nó ngăn nước tiểu & tinh trùng đi ra ngoài cơ thể qua niệu đạo cùng khi. Lúc đạt đỉnh của khoái cảm, cơ vòng này sẽ đóng chặt để ngăn ko cho tinh trùng trào ngược vào bàng quang.

• ung thư tuyến tiền liệt khởi phát liên quan đến nhiều nhân tố, trong số đó với cả chế độ ăn uống và di truyền.

• Muốn phát hiện ra căn bệnh ung thư rất cần được xét nghiệm kháng nguyên đặc hiệu tuyến tiền liệt (PSA), hoặc sinh thiết.

• lúc đã bị bệnh ung thư tuyến tiền liệt thậm chí chọn lọc liệu pháp như: xạ trị, truyền hóa chất, phẫu thuật hay phương pháp proton. Cũng có siêu nhiều cách điều trị khác như: biện pháp cắt lạnh lẽo, HIFU...tùy thuộc vào bệnh lý tình của bệnh nhân để tìm thấy phác đồ chữa bệnh thích nghi.

• ít cách ngăn ngừa bệnh: Quan hệ tình dục điều độ, uống nhiều nước khoáng – đi tiểu ngay trong lúc buồn, ăn uống công nghệ, lau chùi và vệ sinh và liên tục tập thể thao, nâng cao tình hình sức khỏe. Nếu cảm nhận thấy có những dấu hiệu không bình thường cần được đi khám sớm để phát hiện ra bệnh kịp thời.
